Machining a bearing spacer

How hard can it be?

A friend of mine asked a couple of bearing spacers. A surface grinder would have been the perfect tool for the job, but I don't have one, so I made the spacers on the lathe. Parallelism was the challenge.

Let's face it, no one does this on the lathe.

Expansion Arbor

In this video I'll make this tool that will help me refacing the flanges of some old carburetors - SU H2/HS2 - on the lathe. Then, I'll replace the throttle shaft bushings and check the result of the completed work on the surface plate.

Driving ANYTHING between centers on the lathe.

Lathe dog driver

My lathe's spindle taper does not have the correct MT4 angle and for that reason, until I fix it, I cannot rely on it. Knowing this, I decided to make this tool so I could turn some parts between centers.

THE TOOLS IN MY SHOP

I’ve been asked about the tools I use since the day I started the YouTube channel, so I figured a Tools page should cover those questions… because sometimes having the right tool for the job makes all the difference.

I’ll be adding more tools as I go, so if you’re looking for something that isn’t there, please come back as it might be added soon.
